Jessica Neupane

Youth Advisory Council

Jessica is a public health enthusiast with a passion for minimizing inequity within adolescent sexual health. This interest can be traced back to her early upbringing, when she noticed her peers facing unplanned pregnancy and minimal sex education programming throughout middle and high school. Determined to be an independent resource to herself and her friends, she studied anatomy and puberty by checking out books from her local library.

While at the University of Virginia, where she completed her BA in Global Development Studies and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, she took her passion to action and created the first peer education advocacy group through Planned Parenthood on campus. As an education intern at the Planned Parenthood Charlottesville office, she facilitated sex education workshops, recruited over a dozen college students, and trained them to be peer sexual health educators on campus.

Jessica is currently a Community Health Educator at Planned Parenthood South Atlantic in Charlotte, North Carolina, and is responsible for providing comprehensive sex education to adolescents and their families in the area. Jessica is super excited to serve on the Youth Advisory Council because she believes sex education is POWER! She is passionate about all young people having access to inclusive, meaningful sexual health education that challenges gender stereotypes, is social justice oriented, and equips students with communication skills to be lifelong advocates for their sexual health. In August 2021, Jessica will be attending graduate school to receive her Masters in Public Health, where she hopes to learn and gain more tools to continue her career expanding sexual and reproductive health education initiatives in community based settings.

Outside of her work in sex education, Jessica’s interests include watching reality television, food justice, learning TikTok dances, fangirling over public transportation, and making candles.
